Tenerife is the largest island of the Canary Islands archipelago, off the coast of West Africa. It is officially a part of the Spanish territory and is one of the most important tourist destinations. Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the governing seat of this island, and it is the seat of Auditorio de Tenerife, the architectural symbol of the Canary Islands. Another city, La Laguna, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and hosts the oldest university in the Canaries.
Tenerife means snow mountain, and the local life revolves around Mount Teide, an extinct snow-clad mountain and the highest peak in Spain. The Canary Islands have a history of trans-Atlantic trade relations between mainland Europe and the Americas on the Spanish trade route. As there is a lack of polluting industries, the AQI is low, making it one of the cleanest regions in the country. Due to its ecological diversity, the island is home to a rich diversity of flora (around 1400 varieties) and fauna, which are endemic to this particular region.
Tenerife is rife with historical monuments, in addition to having nature at its unique best, the modern architectural marvels, cultural and artistic dash, and general city attractions. The monuments include the Castle of San Andres, the Cathedral of San Cristobal de La Laguna, the Church of Conception of La Laguna, Basilica de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, the modern Auditorio de Tenerife and the Torres de Santa Cruz, the highest residential building in Spain. The archaeological sights include the Caves of the Guanches and the Caves of Don Gaspar in Icod de Los Vinos. The Estacion solar de Masca is an aboriginal site for some rites and rituals, and other highlights are Cueva de Achbinico and Guimar Pyramids. Mount Teide is an active volcano with scenic aerial cable cars and hiking trails. Teide National Park is a World Heritage site, and the Macizo de Anaga is a massif anointed UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
The Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is one of the world's largest festivals, second only to Rio de Janeiro. It attracts international tourist attention for all its glory, pomp, and verve. Apart from all the above sightseeing, there are many tourist attractions to enjoy and enthral. Siam Park is an outdoor Thai-themed adventure water park with pools, slides, rides, and beaches. Loro Park is a landscaped zoo with gorillas, tigers and penguins. It hosts dolphin shows and has an artificial iceberg, which makes it habitable for penguins. Some beautiful beaches include Playa de Las Teresitas, Playa de Las Américas, Playa del Duque, and Beach of the Views. The Teide National Park hosts an observatory for stargazing in addition to the terrestrial wonders it offers to tourists. A unique tourist experience can be the Cave Houses and dining sojourn at Chinamada, near the top of the Anaga mountain range. The town of Los Cristianos, in the drier south of the island, makes it fit for adventure sports like snorkelling, scuba diving, dolphin and whale watching, fishing and windsurfing near El-Medano.
Tenerife is an extension of the itinerant inquisitive Spanish spirit. The Spanish wanderlust led to the discovery of historic trade routes and established Hispanic colonies across the globe. Tenerife has two airports. It has been a maritime station for trans-Atlantic traffic for ages. Although it is close to the west African coast, the easiest way to connect is to take a flight from Madrid. This Spanish free spirit assumes the form of fiesta and carnivals wherever it has imbued its culture. When rife is the spirit to move and groove, why shackle it with stress? Let us at OnGoEazy make it glib and swift for you. Experience the easiest transits, flights, and stays. Easy to connect routes, easier on pockets, and comfortable flight seats. OnGoEazy promises to deliver the trust.
